Nelson’s only Good Wood Supplier!
What is Good Wood?
Good Wood is an initiative launched by both Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council. It ensures the wood you are getting is dry so you won’t be left with a damp or cold home during winter. It also helps to eliminate and minimize smoke in urban areas.
What is dry wood?
Good Wood must have a moisture content of less than 25%. This is a must because all Firewood with a moisture content of more than 25% is banned in Nelson due to the implications to air quality with high moisture content wood. All wood is guaranteed dry under the Good Wood Scheme.
How do I know I’m getting Good Wood?
Look out for the Good Wood logo. This ensures that the supplier has met council regulations and requirements for wood that is up to standard.
What is the benefit?
Well not only do you have guaranteed dry wood, you also know it is good for the environment too. A dry wood is an environmentally friendly, cost effective way to heat your home.
Does this mean it is more expensive?
Definitely not. Luckily there aren’t many costs involved to join the Good Wood Scheme. Because of this, there are no cost’s passed on. Just the assurance that the wood is good and dry. Of course there will always be just as cheap roadside wood for sale, but at what cost to you and yo ur home?
