Give Back To The Soil That Gives To You - Budget For Organic Matter Today

THE BENEFITS OF COMPOST IN VINEYARDS

Boost Organic Matter - Building up organic matter in soil may be the most important thing you can do to enhance long-term soil performance.

Nutrient Holding - Brings the CEC level up in the soil to keep nutrients around the root system.

Moisture Retention - Any applied water goes further, absorbing 6 times it's weight allowing crops to thrive through dry spells.

Weed Suppression - Especially important for young plants getting a head start.

Root Development - Bigger roots systems take in more nutrients and water.

Reduces Compaction - Increases air and water movement in the soil allowing for ample supply for root development.

SPREADING

Spreading - We have a spreader unit for hire (bookings essential) which is capable of spreading either in a broad spread or via a side discharge for band spreading. The spreader unit is 1.9m wide and is suitable for most vineyard and orchard rows.

Note:

  • Our spreader unit requires a tractor with a rear pin attachment and standard rear hydraulic plugs with hydraulic flow rates of over 40 litres/min.
  • A front-end loader or bucketed attachment to load the spreader unit will also be needed.
  • Our Spreader unit moves throughout regions on an annual basis; please contact us to facilitate use while in your area.
  • There is a discounted day rate for the spreader unit if spreading product purchased through Wholesale Landscapes.

Alternatively,  you can organise your own method of spreading the product or contact us for a range of contractors who can spread it for you.

Application - There are many variables in application rates, depending on property management, soil types, the method of spreading and compost depth. Most vineyards run through a proportion of 60-100m3/ha. Please contact us for a more accurate measurement of volume. Due to variation in soil types within a block, targeting specific weak or low performing vines is also a common and viable option to even up yield.
